ASICS Onitsuka Tigers
The name ASICS is a quirky little one. But the name pronounced as Ashikkusu has a beautiful meaning. ASICS is an acronym for the words, anima Sana in corpore Sano. Which is a Latin phrase which translates to Healthy Soul in a healthy body? 
  
This Japanese multinational corporation produces footwear and equipment designed for a wide range of sports and activities. In recent years, their running shoes have been rated as the best shoes in the market.

The brand itself began with manufacturing basketball shoes in a small town in Japan and soon grew to house a wider collection of shoes. ASICS started selling Olympic shoes in the 50s-70s and many athletes worldwide started wearing them. ASICS not only produces footwear and equipment but also endorses professional athletes including footballers David Suazo, Julio Cesar, and Fabio Grosso to name a few.

Around the 50s, the brand started selling a design that was named, the Onitsuka’s which also went on to become a household name in Mexico. The Onitsuka became renowned due to their distinctive crossed stripes, the shoes were cleverly names “ASICS Onitsuka Tigers”. These shoes are now synonymous with the brand name itself.
